Jane Hamlyn MBE is a leading name in studio pottery in the UK and is known for her distinctive salt glaze ceramics. After training at Harrow School of Art (1972-4) she set up Millfield Pottery Workshop near Doncaster in Yorkshire. With an experimental approach she developed a range of pots and tableware ‘for use and ornament’. She is an influential lecturer and demonstrator and an important figure in the international salt-glaze community. Her work is represented in many public collections including the V&A, York and Aberystwyth. Hamlyn is a Fellow and former chair of the Craft Potters Association and was awarded an MBE in 1922.
