Louise is a ceramic artist based in East Sussex. She makes hand–built sculptures with multi–layered surfaces. The muted colours and textures seek to emulate ancient artefacts. Every piece is unique and her designs are broadly inspired by folk art.
The animals on wheels highlight the plights of endangered species. All the animals depicted in this collection are declining in numbers due to habitat loss as a result of wild fires and deforestation. Many animals, such as the black rhino and the giant anteater are also threatened by poaching. They are on wheels, depicted as toys to indicate that representations of the live animal may be all that is left if humans do not change their actions. The Trojan Horse bringing young people as opposed to soldiers of war, is a symbol of hope. The Sacred Cow with her necklace of acorns also represents hope and faith in new beginnings.
Louise studied Fine and Applied Art at City Lit College, London and completed a Masters in Craft, specialising in Ceramics at Brighton University. In 2019 she participated in the Craft Council’s Hothouse Programme. She is a member of Design Nation and exhibited with them at Collect, Somerset House in 2025.
