Elif Aydoğdu Ağatekin – Turkey

Elif Aydoğdu Ağatekin was born in Ankara in 1977. She graduated from Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Department of Ceramics in 2000. After completing her M.A degree in 2002 at Anadolu University Social Sciences Institute Department of Ceramics she completed her Proficiency in Art Program in 2012 at Fine Arts Faculty Department of Ceramics with her dissertation titled Use of Waste Ceramics in the Art of Ceramics as an Alternative Means of Expression. She worked as a designer for elite institutions in the ceramic industry for many years. Later, she decided to continue her career as an academician in 2007. In her works of art, she prefers to use industrial wastes that are found, used, keepsake, broken, worn-out, and bought. She participated in many national and international events with her works of art, which often reflect a conceptual and political content and have been displayed in many museums as well as public and private collections. Elif Aydoğdu Ağatekin is a founding member of the Ceramic Art Education Exchange Association (SSEDD), a member of the Turkish Ceramics Association (TSD) and the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. She currently works as a professor at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Ceramics and Glass Design.
