Philip Eglin studied at Staffordshire Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, London. He first came to the fore as a major British ceramicist in the 1990s noted for his figure sculpture and lively drawing on ceramics. He was awarded the Jerwood Prize for Applied Arts in 1996.
