Over the past months we have been exploring our archives dating back to the festival’s beginning in 1987. On Saturday July 3rd we are delighted to announce that we will be hosting ‘REWIND – Over 30 years of the International Ceramics Festival at Aberystwyth’ an online showcase of cherry-picked archive highlights selected by you and focusing on memorable performances and spectacular live firings. The programme will also feature live performance by Angela Tait and we will hear from Steve Mattison about the early years of ICF and his involvement with the International Ceramics Studio at Kecskemet, Hungary.
For Friday July 2nd, we have teamed up with COCA (Centre of Ceramic Art at York Art Gallery) who have been running outstanding symposia on ceramics over the past couple of years. Together we will be presenting ‘Ceramics and Lockdown – Performance’, a series of online presentations centred around ‘lockdown performance’ made by ceramic artists during the past year.
Instead of an on-site festival, Aberystwyth Arts Centre will be opening its doors to the local community this year with a community workshop run by 2019 demonstrator Wendy Lawrence.
All our events this July will be free but a donation button will be available on our website should you wish to support the festival in 2022. More information about the event programme and how to access the live stream will be available on our website in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
