The nomadic life Theodora has led since early childhood makes her a citizen of the world.
She studied ceramics in London, Faenza and Geneva. Her work has been shown internationally and has been awarded several times. It oscillates between objects and installations, function and concept, timeless tradition and deconstruction of the form. She now lives with her family and practices her art on the land of her ancestors in the island of Aegina.
She also transmits her love for ceramics through teaching as well as the co-organisation of exhibitions, workshops and international ceramic symposiums.
‘My work explores the mystery of life through its materiality.
It stands at the interface between the dead and the living: from the bones, like relics I find in nature, grow new bodies; from the earth where everything returns, new entities emerge, eternally. I proceed intuitively, challenged by the limits of physical laws. My sculptures allude rather than define, remaining open to the diversity of living forms. They convey my urge to touch “inter-being” in unforeseen ways.
It is not my artist’s background but rather the unknown that leads the way. I seek to listen to the vastness of the present moment and this uncomfortable, unstable situation opens new spaces where one can be transformed.’
